Ms. Lauren is a litigation associate with Lee Smart. She was awarded her J.D., with honors, from the University of Washington in 2006. Before her internship with Lee Smart in 2005, she was an extern for the Honorable Gerry Alexander of the Washington State Supreme Court. Ms. Lauren also participated in the university's Unemployment Compensation clinic, successfully representing clients in administrative hearings; the Trial Advocacy program, where she was a finalist in the Hugh Miracle Award competition for opening statements; served as president of the Law Women's Caucus; and King County Washington Women Lawyers, where she was a board member. Ms. Lauren was named one of the KCWWL chapter members of the year in 2005 for her role in setting up a mentorship program for law students.
Before law school, Ms. Lauren was an award-winning journalist for a small newspaper in Gig Harbor where she specialized in education, local government and features. She also has served as a development director for two inner-city private schools, raising more than $200,000 in grants and other donations to give children access to computers, scholarship funds and adequate facilities.
