Ketia Wick is a shareholder with Lee Smart. Her practice emphasizes civil defense litigation, including medical malpractice, professional negligence, and long term care malpractice. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1993 with a B.A. in Accounting and Finance. She continued her education at Seattle University School of Law, from which she received her Juris Doctor (cum laude 1997). While in law school, Ms. Wick clerked in King County Superior Court for the Honorable Lawrence Jordan and after law school in Snohomish County Superior Court for the Honorable Ronald Castleberry. Prior to joining Lee Smart, she practiced medical malpractice defense with the firm Johnson, Graffe, Keay, Moniz & Wick. She was a member of the Board of Directors for the Washington Chapter of the American Corporate Council Association and is acting legal officer for Apex Wood Products Corporation. Ms. Wick is admitted to the Washington State Bar, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court, the United States Tax Court, the United States Supreme Court and she is "AV" rated by Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review.

Ms. Wick also has been asked to serve as an arbitrator and on arbitration panels regarding medical and health care malpractice cases

  • Jackson v. Presbyterian Retirement Communities – Defense verdict following nursing home malpractice lawsuit alleging abuse and neglect under the Washington Vulnerable Adult Statute .
  • Fox v. Soundcare - Settlement of wrongful death nursing home malpractice case alleging homicide and negligent hospice care.
  • Jackson v. Orchard Park - Summary judgment dismissal of wrongful death case alleging negligent wound care and vulnerable adult abuse.
  • Elhardt v. Evergreen/Longview CC – Settlement of wrongful death suit involving allegations of negligent supervision, negligent hiring, and medical malpractice following fall with head injury.
  • Milne v. Colkitt/Kitsap Occupation Health - Voluntary dismissal following 1 week medical malpractice trial in Kitsap County. Allegations included failure to diagnose pulmonary embolism and emotional distress damages.
  • Morey v. Michaelson/Morris - Defense verdict following 1.5 week medical malpractice trial in Pierce County. Allegations included permanent disfigurement and emotional distress damages. In state and out of state experts called to testify.
  • Richardson v. Messina/Platis Defense verdict following 6 week legal malpractice trial in Snohomish County. Complaint included allegations of legal malpractice, breaches of fiduciary duty and violations of the Consumer Protection Act and an underlying claim of medical negligence. More than 30 witnesses were subpoenaed and testified at trial.
  • Allihyari v. Buty Defense verdict following 1 week medical malpractice trial in King County. Complaint included allegations of failure to diagnose and treat as well as loss of consortium and emotional distress. In-state and out-of-state experts retained and called to testify.
  • Arhu v. Yamamoto – Defense verdict following 2 week wrongful death medical malpractice trial in Pierce County. Complaint included allegations of medical negligence as well as failure to obtain informed consent. Internationally known medical experts retained and called to testify.
  • Arshal v. Ardizzone Summary judgment affirmed by Court of Appeals. Allegations included dental malpractice and constitutional law violations.
  • Blackburn v. Secretary of Veteran's Affairs of Washington DC, Larson Heart & Shepherd PLLC, et. al. Summary Judgment ordered by US District Court, Western District, in legal malpractice action involving constitutional violations and ethical violations.
  • Caldwell v. Valley View Family Medicine, et al - Voluntary dismissal by plaintiff one week before trial involving allegations of failure to diagnose colon cancer and loss of chance theories.
  • Keller v. Orchard Park Health Care Center Voluntary dismissal in case alleging nursing home and primary care physician malpractice.
  • Watson v. Town of Pe El Defense Verdict following arbitration for allegations of wrongful termination and constitutional rights violations.
