Mr. Grennan is a Lee Smart shareholder who joined the firm in 1982. He concentrates his practice on complex, general civil litigation, including defense of head-injury claims, legal and real estate professional liability, medical and nursing malpractice, worker’s compensation, construction accidents, automobile tort, premises liability, environmental/toxic torts, and asbestos product liability. Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory conferred an "AV" rating, its highest, on Mr. Grennan. He is a cum laude graduate of the University of Washington with a B.A. in Economics and earned his J.D. degree from the University of Washington Law School in 1977. Mr. Grennan has practiced in trial courts throughout the State of Washington, the Washington Court of Appeals, the Washington Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.


Representative Cases

  • Farris v. Glynn – Defense of a highway accident in which plaintiff was severely injured from being struck as a pedestrian while walking along highway after car accident with defendant. Directed verdict in favor of defendant at close of plaintiff’s case.
  • Linder v. Beadex – Defense of asbestos manufacturer in mesothelioma cancer case brought by plaintiff against various asbestos containing products and manufacturers. Trial proceeded against sole remaining defendant, with jury returning a verdict of less than prior payments and set-offs, resulting in a defense verdict.
  • McCoy v. For Pete’s Sake Restaurant – Defense of restaurant in slip-and-fall accident with serious broken leg injuries. Jury returned defense verdict.
  • Parker v. Corey Fuel Company – Defense of fuel distributor and claim brought by plaintiff whose vehicle suffered significant engine damage from allegedly contaminated fuel. After hearing expert testimony from both sides as to nature of engine damage and fuel contamination, jury returned defense verdict.
  • Redding v. Bugni – Defense of legal malpractice claim by arising from complex divorce action. Jury returned defense verdict.
  • Russell v. Vaughn – Trial involving auto accident in which plaintiff was injured by striking defendant’s mailbox along side of road. Plaintiff abandoned case and order of dismissal entered at close of plaintiff’s testimony.
  • White v. Tassano – Defense of-legal malpractice action brought by plaintiff against defendant attorney stemming from criminal defense representation. Directed verdict in favor at close of plaintiff’s case.
