Carinne E. Bannan

Associate

Carinne E. Bannan is an associate attorney with Lee Smart. Her practice includes all areas of civil defense litigation. Prior to joining Lee Smart, she worked at a small civil litigation firm in Seattle, where she represented landlords and tenants in all phases of residential and commercial evictions, breach of contract claims, and real property litigation.

Carinne earned her BA from Washington State University in 2013 and her JD from Seattle University School of Law in 2017. During law school, she interned at the Korematsu Center where she focused on a juvenile criminal sentencing appeal, and served as Lead Article Editor for the Seattle University Law Review. Her article on frozen embryo litigation was published in the Seattle University Law Review in 2017.

Carinne is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the King County Chapter of Washington Women Lawyers.

Carinne's experience includes these notable cases:

  • Sixth and Spokane LLC v. KT Building Supply Inc., et al.- Case for breach of commercial lease agreement brought by landlord. Court granted summary judgment in favor of the landlord finding there was no issue of material fact as to the interpretation of the specified uses clause of the contract.
  • Lozano v. Lozano- Defense of homeowner in action for quiet title and personal injury. Obtained dismissal of quiet title cause of action based on the plaintiff’s failure to plead and establish the requisite elements of fraud.
  • eLink Realty, LLC v. WJL Homeservices, LLC; Yang- Defense of property management company against claims for alleged theft of client list. Obtained partial summary judgment dismissing the claims for violation of the Uniform Trade Secrets Act and Consumer Protection Act. The parties reached an agreement as to remaining claims during mediation.
  • Landis v. Hays- Representation of property owner in case for breach of contract of residential lease and counterclaim for breach of warranty of habitability based on an alleged water leak. Obtained ruling and judgment in favor of the owner following arbitration.
