Jeffrey P. Downer and Andrew H. Gustafson obtained dismissal of plaintiff’s complaint in Mayes v. Attorney, et al. in King County Superior Court. Plaintiff sued his former lawyer and her law firm, Jeff and Drew’s clients, alleging the lawyer caused the dismissal of plaintiff’s employment discrimination claims against his former employer by misstating pivotal factual allegations in plaintiff’s Amended Complaint. Plaintiff claimed the lawyer’s mishandling of his employment discrimination case caused plaintiff $6,000,000 in damages. Jeff and Drew successfully argued that collateral estoppel barred plaintiff’s legal-malpractice claim, and the court dismissed plaintiff’s complaint with prejudice.
